Steps For Finding A Journal Article

  1. LOOK FOR ARTICLES: Search the appropriate database in the Online Databases for articles and citations.

  2. CHECK FOR FULL-TEXT: If you find, or already have, a citation for an article that is not available full-text in the database you are in, use the Serial Solutions A-Z page to search the entire library holdings for the journal title. The article may be available full-text in another database or in the library print collection. If available, after clicking the database, browse to the volume and issue of the journal you are looking for.

  3. CHECK LIBRARY HOLDINGS: If the article you want is not available full-text, or in print, you can search the Library Catalog for the journal title to see if the library has that journal either in print or microform.

  4. USE INTERLIBRARY LOAN: If the article is not available full-text online or in the Library, use Interlibrary Loan to request the article from another library.

  5. CHECK OTHER LIBRARIES: If you need an article immediately, you may want to go to another library near you. To see what libraries have the journal you are looking for, go to the Other Library Catalogs web page. If you can't find a library near you that has that journal, contact the Reference Desk.
